Wess Buckwheat-Werlein
1976-2024
It is with great sadness that the family of Wess Buckwheat-Werlein announces his passing from a long
battle of rectal cancer. He was very strong, upbeat, and determined to win this battle regardless how
many complications were put in front of him. Due to our lack of affordable covered medical insurance
and our local hospital closings his body eventually gave way.
Wess was born in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1976 to Rhonda Buckwheat and Lloyd Werlein. Wess attended
Memorial High School. Wess has always been a good, kind person that did not deserve the pain and
suffering he had with this awful cancer that should have been easily cured. His first job was at Sear’s
Roebuck in London Square Mall, then Sears Appliance delivery and eventually a loyal dedicated
employee of Silgan Containers of Menomonie, WI for 25 years.
Wess enjoyed his job, the people he worked with and frequently would take extra shifts. When Wess
was not working he enjoyed spending time with family playing poker games, paintball, league bowling,
dartball, going to movies, hunting and visiting strip clubs
😊
.
Wess was preceded in death by his grandparents Norman and Deliliah Werlein, father Lloyd Werlein, 2
uncles, and his dogs Spanky and Boscow.
Wes is survived by his mother Rhonda Buckwheat, brothers Frank (Penny) Werlein of Menomonie and
Gene Buckwheat-Werlein of Eau Claire, Uncle Vic (Sharon) Werlein of Augusta, Wi, Uncle Gary (April)
Werlein of Altoona, WI, nephews Abraham (Kate) Werlein of Cedar Rapids, IA, Dakota Stygar, Josh and
Jesse Werlein, many cousins and his bonus family of Silgan Containers Employees.
A celebration of life will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona.
