Susan Rae Deetz, age 70 of Eau Claire, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Bloomer.
She was born in Eau Claire on September 6, 1952 to Armond and Irene (Goodremote) Glenz.
Susan enjoyed crocheting beautiful blankets, going to the casino “for ribs”, singing along with country music and chatting with her sister on the phone.
She was a master at giving everyone a nickname, even giving multiple to some.
In 1990, she along with her soon to be husband Sherman, eloped to Iowa and got married.
Sue was a homemaker most of her life.
In her later years, she worked for Spectrum Industries in Chippewa Falls for 9 years.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Sherm; son Wayne Helland (Jennifer Cahak); daughters: Barb Glenz and Rebekah (Michael) Larson; grandchildren: Ryan Larson, Tyler (Emily) Ottinger, Delaney Helland and Isabella Pederson; brothers and sisters:
Dennis (Sandy) Wathke, Joyce (Michael) Endres, Renee Staves, Patricia Burger, Warren Glenz, Debbie (Dick) Johnson, Howard (Sandy) Glenz, Romona Glenz, and Jeffrey (Barb) Helland
; numerous other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death are her parents, her twin sister Sally Rassbach, sister Karen Carlson, brothers William Wathke and Steve Wathke.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. (NOON) on Friday, March 10, 2023 at Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona with Pastor Jeff Carlson officiating.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
Burial will take place at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Eau Claire.
