Shirley Marie Flaskrud, 82 of Altoona, died on April 6, 2017 at Sacred Heart Hospital.
She was born on August 5, 1934 to Roy and Matilda (Luethner) Frasl in Eau Claire.
Shirley graduated from Eau Claire Senior High. She married George Flaskrud on September 8, 1956 in Eau Claire. She was a long time member at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Altoona. Shirley and the family would travel to Wildwood Resort for 40 years; they made many lifelong friends. She enjoyed playing cards with the neighbor ladies, bingo, and attended a casino trip occasionally. Shirley was known for her fantastic cooking and always looked forward to hosting Easter for her entire family.
She is survived by three children: Lori Flaskrud of Altoona, Steve (Deb) Flaskrud of Eau Claire, Donna (Mike) Baker of Eau Claire; grandchildren: Chantel (Jason) Williams, Brandon (Janna) Baker, Katie (Dilin) Fennell, Carly (Seth) Hulback, Jake (Tasha) House; uncle, Edward (Bev) Frasl, four siblings: Jeannette (Chris) Lickness, Allen (Gene) Frasl, Loren (Murri) Frasl and Barb Mess; six great grandchildren: Bella and Collin Williams, Lane Baker, Ari Desforge, Greyson Hulback and Ava Hulback; sisters-in-law: Avis Blake, Sandy Smith, Peggy Flaskrud and Nancy Flaskrud; brother-in-law, Dennis (Sonja) Flaskrud; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George, son, James, parents, Matilda and Roy, Brothers-in-law, Jerry Flaskrud, Robert Blake, Larry Mess, Roy Ottinger, David Smith; sister-in-law, Ollie Dunham and father and mother-in-law, Samual and Agnes Flaskrud.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, April 10, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Altoona, at 4:00 P.M. Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. until the time of service at the Church.
We’ll always remember that beaming smile and wonderful, contagious laugh. Keep your bingo dauber supply stocked and make sure Grandpa gets you there on time!
