Shirley Mae Bennett Brown, 93, of Hager City, Wisconsin, died Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Deer Crest Memory Care, Red Wing, Minnesota.
Shirley was born on May 18, 1928 in Red Wing, Minnesota to Everett and Rosella
(Hines) Bennett. She married Jack Earl Brown on July 29, 1947 in Red Wing, Minnesota.
Shirley was known for her friendship and hospitality. She loved teaching her grandchildren how to play cards and board games, while her grandchildren loved all the root beer floats and ice cream cones. For many years, she and her husband owned and operated Brownies Café in Hager City, WI, a favorite place for homemade fries and unforgettable thin-cut fried onion rings.
She is survived by four sons: Jack (Paula), Tom, Kelly, and Randy (Dianne). She has 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Maxine (Mickey) Kappler, and by her beloved niece, Peggy Ness Sutherland.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Earl Brown, parents, Rosella and Everett Bennett, and her sister, Jean Lois Ness.
There will be a graveside service at Trenton Cemetery, Hager City, WI, Sunday, November 21, 2021, at a time to be determined.
