Sharon A. “Shari” Garrison, age 73, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Mayo Hospital in Eau Claire, Wisconsin after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Shari was born in Algona, IA on February 12, 1950 to Allen and Ruth (Heerdt) Wagner. She met her husband Earl while attending the University of Northern Iowa-Cedar Falls. Shari and Earl were married on June 5, 1972 in Algona, IA and moved to Eau Claire shortly after their wedding. She was the first Women’s Program Supervisor for the Parks and Recreation Department in Eau Claire and worked in that position until she became pregnant with her first child. Shari then became a stay at home mom who welcomed many other children into her home to babysit. She was also a Brownie and Girl Scout leader until she went back to work for the Eau Claire Area School District, where she stayed until her retirement. Shari’s grandchildren meant the world to her, and she always made a point to attend any and all of their events. She was a wonderful cook and baker who shared her many talents with her family, friends and neighbors.
Shari is survived by her loving husband, Earl; her children, Molly (Bob) Thorp, Mark (Jill) Garrison and Mari (Matt) Gunderson; her grandchildren, Sam Thorp (Emma Thurston), Joey Garrison, Gus Thorp, Carson Gunderson, Jayse Garrison, and Cammi Gunderson; her sisters and brother, Jan (Gary) Rochleau, Nancy (Ron) Ramsey, Patty (Gene) Hunt, Marcia (Rick) Fuerstenau and Mike (Lori) Wagner; her in-laws, Roberta (Art) Flier, Pat (Sharon) Garrison and Gayle Garrison. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Shari was preceded in death by her parents; her aunt and uncle, Bud & Margaret Heerdt; her in-laws, Bert and Edna Garrison; and her brother-in-law, Rod Garrison.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Chapel Heights Methodist Church in Eau Claire with Rev. Jean Waldron officiating. Visitation will take place at the church on Friday, February 16, 2024 from 6:00pm-8:00pm and again on Saturday from 10:00 am until the start of the service. Inurnment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Shari.
