Scott R. Filtz, 63, of Bevent, WI passed peacefully at Park Manor on March 24, 2024. Scott was born on September 17, 1960, to Raymond and Beverly (Bricko) Filtz. He was a graduate of Rosholt High School in 1978. On March 15
th
of 1990, Scott married Geralyn (Mocadlo) Filtz and had three beautiful children of whom they are very proud of.
Scott is survived by his children, Myselle (Michael) Sowka, Raymond Filtz, and Jillian Filtz; two grandchildren, Matthew and Madilyn Sowka; brother, Chuck (Lori) Filtz; sisters, Patti (Wayne) Cebula and Wanda Riske. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bruce Filtz; brother-in-law, Joe Riske; niece, Colleen Filtz.
In Scott’s early years, he worked with his dad and brothers, doing masonry and carpentry work. He continued this passion throughout his lifetime. He created his own carpentry business, which he named “Can Do Carpenter.” With the skills he learned from his family, Scott was able to build his family a beautiful home on Twin Lakes in Custer, WI. He proudly displayed his talented masonry work by individually cutting each rock for this home, with his family. He found the perfect symmetric rocks to lay a beautiful angel on the front of his family home to watch over his family. This home was Scott’s biggest pride. On the acreage of his home, he planted a beautiful orchard, filled with apple, pear, and boysenberry trees. In addition to his orchard, he would plant a huge, fruitful garden every year alongside the lake. He would graciously share the vegetables he grew with his neighbors and friends. He loved to can the vegetables with his family, especially the cucumbers, carrying on the tradition of his wonderful parents.
Alongside the proud work he created with his hands, Scott was a passionate fisherman. His favorite was fishing the Twin Lakes. He displayed his biggest catches and taxidermy on the walls of his home, including northern, bass, and crappies. If he wasn’t out on the lake, you could find him in his shop, working on a project or renovating one of his many “toys,” including four-wheelers, dirt bikes, jet-skis, and more. He worked hard to provide his children with a fearless and adventurous childhood with his collection of machines. The best memories with Scott were shared around the fire alongside family and friends, while the bluegrass music played or on the water getting tossed around behind the boat while tubing. Scott loved to enjoy the beautiful night sky, overlooking the lake on the beach paired with bullhead fishing. He would always have a story to share or adventure for all to participate in. These memories shared will never be forgotten.
The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the staff at Park Manor, who provided excellent care for him in his last months. Additionally, we would like to thank Compassus Hospice for helping ensure a peaceful passing.
There will be services held for Scott in the future. Memories and condolences can be shared at www.cremationsociety-wi.com.
