Roger Anderson

June 25, 1955 — October 16, 2018

Roger A. Anderson completed his life’s journey on October 16, 2018 and stepped into eternity to be with his Lord and Savior. He died peacefully at home in the arms of his loving wife, after a two and a half year battle with cancer.
Roger was born on June 25, 1955 in Stanley, WI to Robert and Lorraine (Webster) Anderson. He married the love of his life Debra Filter on April 23, 1994. They had the privilege of having a 24 year journey together. They had many joys, struggles, and celebrations. They modeled for all what commitment through anything means.
Roger first worked as a log edger and stacked lumber for George Issacson in Stanley. After that, he found he liked the open road as an over the road truck driver. He was an owner operator for years signed on with North Star Transport.
For the last 25 years of his driving career, Roger drove for Fortune Transportation, Windom, MN. It was the best career decision he and his wife ever could have made. As a small family business, they brought us in and treated us as family. After 25 years we are still called family. Over his years of driving, Roger put on over 4,500,000 safe driving miles. Thank you, Roger.
Roger grew up on the family farm east of Stanley, WI. He graduated from Stanley-Boyd High School where he enjoyed shop class, football, and lettered in wrestling. Roger had a lot of fun with friends pulling rope around the state, as well as being the organizer of a Labor Day truck pull from Stanley, WI to Eau Claire, WI raising money for Special Olympics.
Roger had a passion for the Green Bay Packers (as he drove a Packer semi around the country), Wisconsin Badgers, and Milwaukee Brewers.
The outdoors was Roger’s favorite place to be, whether it be hunting deer with his family around home, doing family Canada fishing trips, or hunting with family and friends in Montana and Colorado for elk and mule deer.
Roger will be sadly missed by his wife, Debra; his father Robert Anderson; his sisters, Pam (Dave) Atter of Chippewa Falls, WI and Julie (Ross) Witt of Whitehall, WI; brothers, Dean (Judy) Anderson of Wittenberg, WI, Steve (Janice) Anderson of Stanley, WI, and Jeff (Brenda) Anderson of Winter, WI; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and great-nieces and nephews. In-laws, Jim Filter, Dave (Mary) Filter, Ron (Donna) Filter, and Julie (Gary) Suhr; and many great friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lorraine, and his brother, Jim.
Funeral services for Roger will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 11:00 AM with lunch to follow. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of service at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 1804 Highland Ave, Eau Claire with Pastor Christine Emerson officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes for monetary donations that family will put towards a charity of their choice.
Cremation Society of Wisconsin, Altoona is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be shared at www.cremationsociety-wi.com.
