In Loving Memory of Roberta Helen Howard
Roberta Helen Howard, known to most as "Bobbie" or "Robin", was born on June 26th, 1959, in Duluth MN and raised in Eau Claire, WI. Bobbie passed away in the comfort of her home on February 21st, 2025.
Bobbie graduated from Regis High School in Eau Claire, WI in 1977. In 1980 she moved to Anchorage, AK to live with then boyfriend, Rob. Bobbie embraced living in Alaska; fishing and camping whenever she was able to. She enjoyed working for the Alaskan Bank as the Head Vault Teller and Assistant of Operations. Rob and Bobbie were married and had two children, Cassandra and Jason, before moving back to Wisconsin in 1987. They divorced in 1994 but remained friends throughout the years. After moving back to Wisconsin, Bobbie worked a few jobs in lending, and planning seminars until 2000 when she was no longer able to work due to a work injury that changed the course of her life.
Bobbie spent the last 25 years of her life battling a debilitating nerve disorder, Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD). She did not want this disease to define her, but it had a drastic impact on her life that left in her in daily chronic pain. She put on a brave face and fought an unwinnable battle every day that she woke up. Through the pain, she found strength in her faith, becoming a born-again Christian and embracing life with love, kindness, and an unwavering spirit. Even though RSD was a prominent part of her life, we choose to remember her for who she was as a person.
Bobbie's kindness was unmatched; she was one of the most loving and generous souls you'd ever meet. She was an incredible mother and role model to Cassandra and Jason, exemplifying patience and unconditional love in all she did for them. She never missed a birthday party or special occasion and insisted on sending heartfelt cards the old-fashioned way through the mail. Her niece and nephews thought she was the "cool aunt" and will forever remember her famous "junk drawer" that was always stocked full of Little Debbies and sweet treats!
The way she found joy in the simple things life offered was inspiring. Her love of fishing never stopped! She loved, loved to fish every chance she got! Some of her favorite fishing memories were fishing from "the rock" with her Dad and brother, Nick. When she wasn't fishing, some of her favorite past-times were reading, thrifting , crochet, needle-point, and playing Bingo. She had an impressive green thumb! She could make any type of houseplant thrive, and she looked forward to her tulips blooming every Spring. Bobbie was a devoted collector. In her early years, she had a special love for pandas and treasured her collection of panda-themed items. In her later years, she really enjoyed collecting vintage costume jewelry. She also found joy in baking, making the most delicious Chex Mix, cookies, and sweet treats that will be forever missed.
Speaking of sweet things, one of Bobbie's greatest joys in life was being a grandma! She adored her grandchildren and was lovingly known as "Boopie", a name that carried with it a world of love and cherished memories.
Bobbie's soul was met in heaven by her beloved father, Jim Howard, mother, Corrine Howard, sister, Barb (Darin) Howard-Erickson, and twin sister Loretta Rose.
In life, she will be dearly missed by her daughter, Cassandra (Sean) Bibeau, and grandchildren Brady, and Lydia of Elmwood WI, her son, Jason (Shannon) Morrill, and grandchildren Connor, Caitlyn, and Bindi of Yukon OK; as well as her siblings Cathy Howard, Chris (Judith) Howard, and Nick (Dori) Howard. She will also be missed by her niece, nephews and many dear friends.
Her light, love, and laughter will be deeply missed but never forgotten. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, March 2nd from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Home, 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona, WI where family and friends can gather to share memories, enjoy a meal, and honor a beautiful soul.
