Robert D. Ziemann, 95, of Fall Creek died Friday, February 8, 2019 at Augusta Health and Rehabilitation.

Robert Donald Ziemann, son of Amandus E. (“Count”) and Helen (Olson) Ziemann was born on June 15, 1923, in Eau Claire. He was a lifelong resident of Fall Creek, member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, and graduated from Fall Creek High School in 1941.

Bob attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis, went to Milwaukee to make electrical panels for naval ships, and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy, training at Great Lakes. He served in World War II in the Pacific theater on a submarine tender, and on a destroyer. He served from October 1942 to February 1946.

After military service, Bob worked with his father and uncle at Ziemann’s Hardware, Plumbing & Heating. He was skilled making heating ducts and as a master plumber, later being self-employed.

Bob was a lifetime member of the Fall Creek American Legion, Fall Creek Fire Department, and founding member of the Red Feather Archery Club. He was an avid fisher and hunter. He was a survivor of the infamous Armistice Day storm on November 11, 1940, while duck hunting out of Buffalo City on the Mississippi River. The Fall Creek dentist, banker, bank examiner, and Bob were all fortunate to survive.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles, and many cousins. He is survived by his cousins, Willis (Roberta) Olson, Donald (Roseann) Olson, Michael Olson, Richard T. (Carol) Olson, Judith (Steve) Voitek, Geoffrey (Maureen) Ziemann, and Richard Ziemann.
