Robert (Bob) Charles Uhrig, age 94, of Black River Falls WI died on December 8, 2024.
Keenly interested in America's rural way of life, Bob had a varied career in agriculture. He studied in the farm short course at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and then agricultural education at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. He taught agriculture at Colfax High School during the 1960s and coordinated vocational education through CESA in the 1970s. Bob had periods of time selling farm equipment and providing electrical services for farmers. Bob ultimately joined the US Department of Agriculture and managed water quality and soil erosion pilot programs across Wisconsin.
A proud veteran, Bob served in the US Army as a medic at Tokyo Army Hospital, Japan, during the Korean War (1951-1953). He received the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal.
Bob enjoyed singing and met his wife, Jeannine, in the Wesley Choir at UW-River Falls. He sang in a barber shop group and in church choir. Bob camped, bowled, and played golf with family and friends. While Bob was fond of model trains and collected them, he was passionate about cars and tinkered with them as a hobby throughout his life.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannine. He is survived by his children: Allison, Barbara, Bradley and Steven; grandchildren: Jerad, Erin, Nickisha, Miranda, Mitchel, Zachary, and Amanda; great grandchildren: Beau, Brynnleigh, Bailey, Adam, Aaron, Deamyn, Kinsley, Ryker, and Sadie; and his sister Emily Lindner, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
