Richard Allen Rude, age 66 of Mondovi, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire. Richard was born on December 29, 1957 to Earl and Vivian Rude.
He worked at various jobs and then decided to go the California way. Richard got a job working with the movies as a special effects artist. One show he did special effects for was called Midnight Mary Lou.
He then went on to NBC Studios and became the head of welding, making sets for Johnny Carson and many others. Richard also worked on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. He was the "Scary Stage Hand" that worked about 20 scenes.
Richard worked with NBC Studios for about 22 years and came home to Wisconsin to build a new home, work shop and 2 big sheds.
He was liked by all that knew him. He sure will be missed.
Survivors include his mother, Vivian Thompson; sister Kathie (Bill) Johnson; and sister-in-law Sue (Simon) Fink. He further survived by other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death are his dad Earl, brother Randy Rude, sister Karen Rude, grandparents Oscar and Marion Pederson and grandmother Emily Emerson.
A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Friday, January 17, 2024 at Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will take place at Union Cemetery, Township of Clear Creek, Eau Claire County.
