Richard Hallquist

Richard James Hallquist, 60, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on February 20
th
2024 at Marshfield Hospital with his family by his side after a courageous 2-year battle with cancer.
Rick was born on July 12
th
1963 to James and Mary (Safford) Hallquist in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Rick graduated from North High School in 1982. His first Job was at Ashbaugh Printing Company in Chippewa Falls. He then worked for the City of Eau Claire and helped his mother out with her furniture store on Farwell Street. After working for the city, Rick and his brother Steve decided to start their long career in used automobile sales where he worked up until his time of death.
Rick had many hobbies, but his favorite would be dirt track racing. Rick raced for 30 years and if he was not racing, he would be cheering on his family and friends that raced. Rick enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching football and basketball, riding and collecting four-wheelers, three-wheelers, dirt bikes and running around town on his moped. Rick cherished his time with his family and friends. Rick was a kind, selfless, gentle soul, with a great sense of humor. He was a giving man and would help anyone at any time. He will be missed dearly.
Richard was preceded in death by his beloved mother Mary Louise Hallquist.
He is survived by his father James Hallquist (Pat), his uncle David Safford, his brother, Steven Hallquist (Melissa); step brother Ryan Hallum (Gabriela); his nephew Travis Hallquist (Sarah Nemath) niece’s Tracy Hallquist, Tara Hallquist (Nathan Richards), great nieces and nephews many aunts and uncles and cousins and his companion of many years Kristi Swartz.
Services will be held at 12:00 (NOON) on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery, Eau Claire.
