Raymond Seeley

Raymond (Ray) Seeley, 85, was called to his heavenly home on Monday, November 27
th
. He was born on December 5
th
, 1937 to Dollie (Carlson) and Robert Seeley and grew up Red Wing, MN. After graduating from Central High School, he began taking courses at the University of Minnesota in the Civil Engineering department as a Highway Construction major. While in college, he met and married Margaret Radichel, his wife of 59 years, while she was attending nursing school in Red Wing. When financial strictures required him to leave school to earn a living, he began his career in purchasing in Lake City, MN before moving the family to Colorado to pursue other opportunities.
After a 7-year residence in Colorado, Raymond and his family returned to the Midwest, settling in the Eau Claire area near Margaret’s parents. He worked with various family members on the construction of a home for his family while working full time in various positions in management and purchasing for lumber yards and small manufacturers in northwestern Wisconsin. His final position prior to retiring was a 16-year position as operations manager for Trussworks, a larger regional manufacturer and distributor of trusses. He also shared a home business with Margaret for over 30 years, working it side by side with her after his retirement.
Ray enjoyed both physical activity and intellectual pursuits—golfing, playing solitaire and bridge, reading, working on puzzles, watching old movies and continuing to play basketball with fellow church members through the age of 70. He also volunteered time supporting the facility department at Immanuel Lutheran College & High School and at Messiah Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.
Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; his parents; an infant son, Dean; a sister, Alice Carlson; two brothers, Ralph and Richard. He is survived by his children; Linda (Jeff) Feirn, Lois (Darin) Peterson, James (Kristen) Seeley and their children Aben, Maya and Levi, and Aaron (Jennifer) Seeley.
Services will be held on Tuesday, December 5
th
at Messiah Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, WI. Visitation will be from 12:30-2:00pm, with the funeral service immediately following at 2:00pm. Dessert and coffee will follow in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be given to the Immanuel Lutheran College Education Fund administered by Messiah Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, WI.
