Philip Grosvold

December 31, 1969 — May 8, 2024

Philip J. Grosvold, 91 of Chippewa Falls, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2024 with family at his side.

Philip was born July 16, 1932 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to the late Victor Grosvold and Mary Romback. He graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in Eau Claire.

Philip was married to Patricia Hagman on March 2, 1957 and had a family of 2 boys and 2 girls. they were married 64 years.

He was an employee of Uniroyal for 30 years. When he was not working, he enjoyed ski jumping as a young man at Silver Mine Hill. As he grew older and had his family, Philip enjoyed spending time with his family at their cottage on Island Lake where he would impress everyone with his waterskiing skills. During the winter months, he enjoyed snowmobiling with his group known as The Snomads . As he got older, he became a part of a group of car enthusiasts called the Chippewa Valley A’s where he was able to show off his 1948 De Soto convertible. He also had a group of friends he would frequently meet with at McDonald’s to “Solve the world’s problems” while enjoying breakfast.

Philip is preceded in death by his wife Patricia, his parents; and brother Victor.

Philip is survived by his two sons, David (Jane) Grosvold of La Crosse and Steven (Caroline) Grosvold of Holmen; two daughters, Suzanne (Jeffrey) O’Driscoll of Eau Claire and Ann (Randall) Dyer of Eagan, MN; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Philip’s family would like to say thank you to the Chippewa Falls VA and especially Karrie, Brooke, and Amanda with Lily Hospice. Your care and kindness shown towards Philip cannot be thanked enough.

A memorial service with military honors will be held on June 7, 2024 at Stokes, Prock, & Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest parkway Altoona. Service will be held 11am, with a visitation beginning at 10am. A private family burial will be held on a later date. In leu of flowers, please donate to Lily Hospice.
