Paul John Washak, age 91 of Eau Claire, WI, passed peacefully in his sleep at Lake Hallie Memory Care in Lake Hallie, on Tuesday, January 23rd, 2024. Paul was born on November 17, 1932 in Whitefish Bay, WI to Leo and Virginia A Washak.
Paul was a member of the Milwaukee Wheelman for many years, passionate about cycling after working in his father’s bike shop. He enjoyed traveling to ride in competitions. He broke and held three national records in 1960, earned many ribbons and trophies, and even after he stopped racing, he enjoyed training and coaching others.
Paul worked for John Oster for many years until his retirement.
Paul is survived by the love of his life, Doris, and were married 45 years; sisters: Barb (Dan) Lucas and Joyce Kesselhon; daughter: Tonita Morgan (Bryan) Landerman; Step-children: Mike (Betty) Bialk, Pat (Larry) Roeder, Kathy Perszyk, and Mary (Steve) Schneider; Grandchildren: Tina (Jeramie) Carbo, Nicole (Mike) Reece, Jess Gretzlock, Becky (Jason) Atha, Kathryn Perszyk (Riley Feldman) and Valerie Perszyk, and 5 Great-Grandchildren. He is further survived by additional relatives and many friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents; brother: David; Sister: Virginia L; Step-son: Maynard Perszyk.
A private interment will be held at a later date.
The family would like to express their most sincere gratitude for the compassion, love and wonderful care he received at Lake Hallie Memory Care and through Heartland Hospice.
Cremation Society of Wisconsin, Altoona is assisting the family.
