Patrick Finnessy

June 17, 1939 — December 28, 2023

Patrick T. Finnessy, age 84 of Fall Creek, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023 in Fall Creek.  He was born on June 17, 1939 in Stevens Point, WI to the late Charles and Agnes (nee Okray) Finnessy.

When he was a child, the family moved to Eau Claire.  Patrick graduated from Regis High School in 1957.  He enlisted in the United States Navy.  While he was in the Navy, he was an aviation mechanic, working on Target Aircraft which included rebuilding engines, general sheet metal work and maintenance.  In 1958 and 1959, Patrick spent time on the USS Macon (CA 132) and was later honorably discharged in 1960.

He married the former Patricia Wilhelm in S. Lake Tahoe, CA at the Little Church Chapel on St. Paddy’s Day, March 17, 1993.

Patrick was in a variety of industries which included Retail Sales – heating and air conditioning, customer service – plumbing/electrical, Inventory Control – parts and supplies, Maintenance, Truck Driver – local and over the road. In 1985 he was the manager operator of Kleenaire Corporation in Eau Claire, a heating and air conditioning wholesale house.  He was also a groundskeeper at Poskin Campground as well as a bartender.  He made the best Bloody Marys from scratch.

His hobbies included camping, archery, fishing, cooking, driving, swimming, boating, reading, loved listening to music and he was an excellent joke teller.  He held a chauffeur’s license and had received many salesman awards and a good conduct medal in the Navy.

He is survived by his wife Patricia; sons William (Jennifer) Lee and Shaun Finnessy; daughter Kelly Finnessy-Novachis; grandchildren: Tyler (Skyler) Lee, Shana Finnessy and Emily Finnessy; great-grandchildren: Sutton Lee, Johnathan Lee, Ryver Lee and Macy Finnessy; brother Michael (Marge); sisters: Mary (Roy) Enger and Lois Finnessy; and special friend Kirby Knapp.

Preceding him in death are his parents, brother Donald, grandson Weston and son-in-law John Novachis.

A celebration of life will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Keller Park, 535 State St. N, Fall Creek.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.  Inurnment with full military honors will be in Trinity Cemetery, Fall Creek.

The family would like to thank Dr. Steven Rogers and Mayo Home Care and Hospice for their wonderful care of Patrick.
