Patricia Langlois

February 22, 1937 — January 20, 2025

Patricia Langlois passed away on January 20, 2025. She spent the final weeks of her life surrounded by her many friends and family. She is dearly loved and will be missed by many.

Patricia H. Langlois is the daughter of Jerome and Adelaide Lorsung. One of four children, she was born on February 22,1937, on the farm owned by her Lehn Grandparent's, located in Millerville, MN.

Patricia completed St. Mary's Catholic Grade School and graduated as valedictorian from St. Benedicts High School in St. Joseph, MN. She subsequently entered the Convent at St. Benedicts and over the next 10 years, spent the summers attending College; during the school year, she taught at small catholic schools in the Diocese of St. Cloud. In 1967 Patricia left the Convent and continued her college education at the College of St. Benedicts, graduating Cum Laude with an elementary teaching degree in 1968.

During her early teaching career, she met Joseph Kindernay, and they were married In Albany, MN on April 18, 1970.

They relocated to Eau Claire and Patricia became a teacher with the Eau Claire School District. For the next 23 years, she taught grades 4 through 6 at Boyd and Black Schools. She enjoyed organizing and leading the extracurricular choir at Boyd School and the Advanced Math Club at Black School. She furthered her own education, graduating from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire in 1976 with a master's degree in Individually Guided Education. During her college years she was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. Sadly, Joseph died unexpectedly in 1978.

Patricia later met Joseph (Joe) Langlois in 1979, and they were married July 18, 1981, in Eau Claire WI. Both Patricia and Joe, who had joined the same widow/widower group, during their initial acquaintance, discovered they had a common connection as Patricia taught Joe's son, Tom Langlois. With this marriage, Patricia's family expanded with four stepchildren, and as the years rolled on, grandchildren and great grandchildren arrived in a predictable fashion. They were an important part of Patricia's life. Both Patricia and Joe especially enjoyed golfing with their grandchildren. She considered herself very fortunate to have come into an accepting and loving family.

Patricia retired from teaching in 1993 and was grateful to have time to provide caring support for her parents. After her father died in 1998, Patricia became a strong advocate for her mother and helped her to relocate to Eau Claire. They enjoyed 3 years of spending time together in Patricia's Garden and tending flowers of all types (and everywhere!), as a beautiful garden was one of Pat's passions. Patricia and her mother also sewed a quilt together, it was Pat's first and her mother's last. During these years, Patricia was honored to be able to spend some of each day with her mother.

Another passion was researching family genealogy and family trees (Joe jokingly called it her family forest). Her stacks of paper, maps, and intricate notes grew. She built genealogy books for the Lorsung and Lehn families as well as her stepchildren.

Patricia is predeceased by her parents, Jerome and Adelaide Lorsung, uncles, aunts, special niece Sue Vroman, and her first husband (Joseph Kindernay) and second husband (Joseph Langlois).

She is survived by her stepchildren: Tony (Marilyn), Anita (Michael), Lisa (Robert), Tom (Jean); grandchildren: Anthony Jr. (TJ), Amber, Robbie, Krista, Grace, Luke, Francesca, and Mia; siblings Norman (Pat), Gerri (Jim), and Chuck (Ruth), and many nieces and nephews. Patricia is also survived by special friend Cathy Schroeder, who she viewed as a daughter. Last but not least, she is survived by her dearly beloved cats, Romeo, Coco, and Oreo, who found a second home with special nephew, TJ Langlois.

Patricia is a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and completed 38 years of sobriety. She felt this was her greatest achievement, and we are all incredibly proud of this too! From her own trials and learning she became a sponsor to many others seeking help. Her friends in AA are legion and strong, just as she was to them.

A service for Patricia will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, February 8 at Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Pkwy Altoona. A visitation prior to the service will take place beginning at 10 A.M.

The Cremation Society of Wisconsin, Altoona is assisting the family. Online condolences may be shared at www.cremationsociety-wi.com.
