Nona R. Higgins

Nona Higgins was born October 30, 1936 in Stevens Point, Wisconsin to Alma (White) and George Martens. She attended schools in the area graduating from Wisconsin State University (UWSP) in 1958. Her marriage to Thomas Higgins took place August 22, 1959 at St. Stephen's Church. The couple moved a few times and settled in Wisconsin Rapids where they raised their family of five children. Upon retirement, they moved back to Stevens Point.

Nona is survived by her children Eileen (Paul) Rosenow, Oconomowoc, WI, Daniel (Carin) Higgins, Verona, WI, Patrick (Colleen) Higgins, Madison, WI, Aimee Higgins, Stevens Point, and Timothy Higgins, Verona, WI. Her dear grandchildren are Andrew, Rubia, Lindsay, Emilie, Maggie, Erica, Leah, Katherine, Sydney, Thomas and Liam and great-grandchildren Peter, Maria, and Briella. Nona was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, and daughter-in-law Anne.

Nona loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them and playing all sorts of games. Music enriched her life from early on as did reading and enjoying God's creation, especially Lake Superior.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 1, at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Stanislaus Kostka church, 2151 Stanley St, Stevens Point with visitation preceding at 9:30 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Spirit Parish in memory of Nona Higgins.

Cremation Society of Wisconsin, Altoona is assisting the family.
