Nathan Epp

January 20, 1953 — September 5, 2023

Nathan John Epp was born on January 20, 1953 to Francis and Janis (Burkart) Epp, the day that Dwight David Eisenhower was inaugurated. Nathan graduated from Regis High School in 1971, then attended and graduated from college in Phoenix, AZ, with a degree in electronics. He returned to Eau Claire, WI, and started working at The Villa Piazza, where he met his future bride, Debra (Stratton) Epp. On July 19, 1980, Nathan and Debra were united in marriage.

Nathan repaired various electronics at Stolp TV and Rogers TV, opened his own business, Epp Electronics, and, later, became the only service technician in the 715 area code for Power Wheels. He moved his business to his home and started working for Mayo Clinic Health System where he worked for 25 years, retiring in 2020. He continued working part time at Epp Electronics and Power Wheels while working full time at Mayo Clinic Health System.

His favorite seasons were summer and winter. He loved mowing the lawn, taking road trips on his motorcycle, and clearing the driveway with his snow blower. He was an avid reader, a trivia nut, a wealth of information, and he frequently enjoyed movies and musicals, many of which may have been completely memorized.

Nathan was “The Cat Whisperer”. He would walk the perimeter of his property with all of the family cats following him and, when visiting family and friends, he would wind up with a cat on his lap who usually refused to be approached by visitors.

Nathan was steadfast in his faith, spent time in God’s word every day. He taught himself the guitar and piano and was in a band as a teen and young adult.

Nathan is survived by his wife Debra, of 43 years, daughter Samantha, siblings Barbara Wickham (CA), Zachary Epp (WI), and Tybie Price (OK), in-laws Gerald (Ruby) Stratton and Edythe Olson (MN), Delores (George) Vlcek and Gordon (Joyce) Stratton (WI), Pat (Norm) Colburn (CO), and Paul Stratton (NM).

Nathan passed away peacefully in his home on September 5, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-laws Clayton Wickham, Jim Price, Bill Johnson, and Ted Olson, and sister-in-law Eleanor Johnson.

He touched many lives in his lifetime and will be remembered and missed dearly by all who knew him well. People who are blessed to make it to heaven will see him again.

A visitation and service will be held at Stokes, Prock and Mundt on September 23rd, 2023. Visitation at 10:00am. Service at 11:00am with food following the service.
