Milton Lyle Kuehn of Fall Creek went to be with the Lord on June 16, 2023. He was born to Edward W. and Lorena (Moldenhauer) Kuehn on June 30, 1927.
Milton grew up on the family farm in the Township of Lincoln. He met a lovely young lady, DeLores Maik, and married her on September 30, 1950. They bought the family farm in 1962 and soon after they started their own electrical business called Kuehn Electric. In 1972, Milton graduated the Dale Carnegie Course and in 1975 became a member of the first Wisconsin Toastmasters Club. Their son Tom joined Milton in the family business in 1986.
He was always looking for a way to give back to the community that he grew up in. At the age of 32, he was elected Treasurer of the Fall Creek Valley Country School. Milton was also elected to the Fall Creek Coop Creamery as a Director where he served for 5 years. He served another 9 years on the Tri-State Breeders Board of Directors of Westby, Wisconsin. In 1968 he served on the Building Committee of the Fall Creek Care Center and was Supervisor of the Township of Lincoln board for 11 years. In 1974, Milton and DeLores sold the farm and moved into a home they built in Fall Creek. In the spring of 1974, he was elected to the Eau Claire County board where he served 30 years, 4 of those as the Vice Chairman of the board. Milton served on a multitude of different county and state committees. He was on the Finance and Budget Committee, a Chairman of the Highway Committee, a Chairman of the Wisconsin Counties Association, the County Institutions and the Building Committee for the new Center of Care which is now called Dove Healthcare West, a 5.5-million-dollar project that he was really proud to be a part of.
In 1968, Milton Joined the Fall Creek Lion’s Club and that is what he enjoyed the most. He served as President on the Board of Directors, and spent many years as a Membership Chairman and had perfect attendance throughout all of the years he served. In 1993, he received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award along with several other awards as time passed. Some of these awards were named “Lion of the Year”, 27-E2 District Growth Membership Award and the Louie Gardipee 27-E2 Award. In 2013, he received a Community Hero Award from the Red Cross. Outside of the Lion’s Club, he was very involved in selling engraved bricks and pavers to raise money so he could continue building. Milton was a loved member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fall Creek where he served 9 years as an Elder and another 9 years as President. He also volunteered his time as a helper at the Village Haus Restaurant and as a Crossing Guard for a Fall Creek School for 2 years. Milton was an avid reader and had his own personal “library.” Milton and DeLores spent a lot of time travelling all across the U.S. and in Canada.
Milton is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, DeLores Maik of Fall Creek and their son Tom (Berta) of Eau Claire; sister’s-in-law and brother’s-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. Milton is preceded in death by his sister Phyllis and his brother Warren.
