Michael D. “Mike” Semingson, age 59, passed away unexpectedly in Eau Claire, WI on Sunday, December 24, 2023. Mike was born on May 3, 1964 in Kenosha, Wisconsin to Duane and Nancy (Knutson) Semingson.
He attended the Eau Claire School District. In high school, Mike excelled in sports, such as football, baseball and basketball. He won several trophies and this love for sports carried into his adult life. Of course, his favorites were the Packers, the Bucks and the Badgers. He also had a huge love for music, which he shared with Sherry, the love of his life. They attended many concerts, music festivals and state fairs, following their favorite bands. He made sure that he got a t-shirt from every single event they went to. Last and not least, was his love for fishing with his brother Jack. Mike was a show off, he bragged about any size fish he caught, mostly the small ones. He shared this love with Sherry also, and they bought a boat to share this time together. He had a special love for the simple things in life, like sitting in the backyard with Sherry enjoying a simple fire with her wrapped in his arms, these are the things that will remind her of her big, beautiful man.
Mike loved Jesus with all his heart. Sherry will always feel blessed to have had this time with her Mike.
In most people’s eyes, Mike had a rough exterior, and to those who did not know him, he did. Once he let you into his life, only then could you see a presence; a mountain of a man, with the softest heart and the most tender feelings. He was very kind, gentle, funny, humble and very loving to Sherry.
Mike and Sherry met in the summer of 2016, and it was an immediate connection. He became her beautiful man, her gentle giant. Sherry became his voice of reason and his angel. Very rarely were they seen apart.
Mike joined Schuman Cheese in December of 2019, and worked in the warehouse department. He was a pillar in the warehouse; no one cared more about doing things the right way than Mike. He was very passionate about everything he did and always had the company’s best interests in mind.
Mike is survived by the love of his life, Sherry Shackleton, Chippewa Falls; his son, Troi Semingson, San Diego; his daughter, Leanna Franson, Eau Claire; his sister, Stephanie Semingson, Eau Claire; his brother, Jack Semingson, Nebraska; his grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his dad, Duane.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
