On August 19, Merry-Joy Angel Fleming at the age of 60 passed away peacefully into the presence of the Lord at her home in Ellsworth, WI surrounded by her family after a long 20 year battle with Cancer.
Merry-Joy is survived by her husband Brian Fleming; her children, Angel Bechel (husband) Brandon Bechel (grandchildren) Caleb, Reuben and Eternity; Precious Deacon (husband) Brett Deacon; Blessing Edwards (husband) Regis Edwards (grandchildren) Isaiah, Israel, Xzavier and grandbaby #7 due this January. And her sibling Scott Bartel of Minneapolis, MN.
She is preceded in death by her parents Henry (Sonny) Bartel and Joy Bartel (Mahlke) of Ellsworth WI. Her grandparents Henry Bartel and Freda Bartel; Ed Nikolai and Ida Nikolai.
Merry- Joy was born on February 16th, 1961 in Minneapolis, MN. She graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1979 and went on to attend Concordia Lutheran College where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.
Merry- Joy married Her high school sweetheart Brian in April of 1982 during a blizzard on a Sunday. They celebrated 39 years together. They welcomed first child Angel Joy in 1988, second child Precious Faith in 1990, and their third child Blessing Briana Noel in 1992. Merry-Joy’s greatest joy was her family. She loved spending every moment with her children and grandchildren. She considered spending time with them priceless. Her grandchildren were her treasures in life.
She and Her husband ran a business together the David Lodge and Inn in Ellsworth, WI where she would often share the gospel of Jesus Christ and ministered to many broken people. She loved fishing, hunting, traveling, painting, decorating, serving, and attending Her church. Her truest love was Her Savior Jesus Christ whom she owed her whole life. Her long battle with cancer drove her to live every day to the fullest and to treasure every moment.
A celebration of life for Merry-Joy is scheduled for Sunday, August 29th at 4 pm at New River Assembly of God church in Red Wing, MN.
