Mary Faeth

Mary Patricia (Higgins) Faeth, beloved by so many, passed away on December 9, 2022, in Eau Claire, WI. Mary was born on August 15, 1940, in Springfield, IL to Thomas Aloysius Higgins and Ruth Bernadine (Quinlan) Higgins, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children, Chris (Ann) Faeth, Sean (Jennifer) Faeth, and Joel (Sharon) Faeth; by her siblings Thomas Higgins, Richard (Susan) Higgins, and Julie (Michael) Losurdo; by her grandchildren Marie, Angela, Christopher, Quinlan, Abby, Nicole, Austin; and by her great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mary Pat, as she was known to many, grew up in Springfield and graduated from Blessed Sacrament High School before attending the Saint Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Peoria, IL. Most of her professional career was as a Registered Nurse and Director of Nursing in several care facilities. Her greatest joy was working with the nuns at the Franciscan Convent. Mary’s patients benefited from her nursing skills and from her devotion to sustaining their health and recovery. In her later years, she continued to be an advocate for the residents at the care facilities where she resided.

Poetry was one of Mary’s many gifts, and she wrote throughout her life. Mary’s faith in God was powerful, and she was a devoted member of the Roman Catholic Church. Most of all, she loved her family and was so loved in return.

A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Altoona.  There will be NO visitation prior.  Final interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Springfield, IL.
