Mark John Trebil, Age 69, passed away November 28th, 2021, at his home in Ellsworth, WI with his loved ones by his side after an 8-year battle with dementia. Mark is survived by his wife of 48 years, Peggy (Hawkins) Trebil – who was his constant companion and loving caregiver during these last years, his sons Josh (Kim) and Mike (Becca), daughter Tricia (Todd) Mielke, and 5 grandchildren: Gage, Chase, Julian, Mallory and Brayden. Mark was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Marjean Trebil, brother Gary Trebil, and father-in-law John Hawkins.
Mark was born October 18, 1952, in Richfield, MN, and graduated from Rosemount High School in 1970. After marriage in 1973, Mark and Peggy spent most of their child-rearing years on a small farm outside Ellsworth. Mark’s career in the carpenter and building trade became a true calling. He enjoyed teaching and working with his sons in the trade, helping them build their first homes on the farm, as well as fixing/rebuilding 3 wheelers, dirt bikes, and almost anything mechanical.
Mark was a dog lover (especially Holly) and true outdoorsman who enjoyed deer and raccoon hunting, fishing, golfing, snowmobiling, gardening and morel mushroom picking - often with Josh and Mike at his side. He, Peggy and Tricia enjoyed many long, happy days at their cabin in Siren – close to family and life-long friends. Mark especially enjoyed the grandkids - helping bait hooks, giving golf cart rides, teaching them to swing a golf club and enjoying bonfires and bean bag tournaments.
Mark will be sadly missed by Peggy, their children and grandchildren, his extended family of brothers, sisters, in-laws (and out-laws), mother-in-law Jo Hawkins, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends. Mark will always be remembered for his wry smile, his quick wit, and his ‘tell it like it is’ approach to life – he was truly one-of-a-kind. He is gone from all of us way too soon.
Mark is a Child of God and has now been called Home. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at St Francis Catholic Church, 231 W. Woodworth St. in Ellsworth; Visitation from Noon to 2:00; Burial Mass at 2:00
Gathering of Family and Friends at Ridgetop, W10516 US-10, in Prescott, WI from 3:30 to 6:30.
Memorials in Mark’s name can be made to charity of your choice.
