Mark Allen Strobush, age 69, of Fall Creek passed away suddenly on Thursday November 14, 2024 while working at his campsite in Hatfield, WI.
Born April 27, 1955 in Baldwin, WI to Donald and Shirley, Mark grew up on the dairy farm with his siblings Greg, Jim, Julie, and Nancy exploring, building, and tinkering.
In 1973 he graduated from Baldwin High School and went on to Chippewa Valley Technical College.
Mark met Sandy in 1976 and the two were married on February 9th, 1980 and resided in Augusta before moving to Altoona in 1989 and Fall Creek in 1996 where they raised their four children: Collin, Kirsten, Laiken, and Sarin.
Anyone visiting the Strobush house during the years that the kids were at Altoona schools would be welcomed by a springer spaniel, great food, drink, and conversation, some sort of music by one or more of the kids, and Sarin banished once again to dishwashing duty for taking the blame of whatever her older siblings had done. Countless hours were spent at hockey rinks and music events.
Much of Mark's life can be summed up by a shirt he sometimes wore printed with the slogan, "I'm here because you broke something."
Most people who knew him benefited at one time or another from a "Mark to the rescue" visit. Mark (MacGyver) could fix and make just about anything. Even the auto repair guy would often turn Mark away saying, "You know how to fix that car yourself, Mark!"
In his absence, many of Mark's family and friends are worried that local auto parts and hardware stores may be in for some hard times.
If Mark wasn't at someone else's house saving their day, he could be found at home usually in his workshop turning other peoples' trash into treasures thanks to Sandy's original and internet-induced ideas, on his side-by-side with his grandchildren by his side, working on his amazing Christmas light display, or on a trip to the Caymans, New York or Disney with a crew of family.
The "mark" of a great life: His life mattered and we will all forever miss those glasses and that mustache making our lives better, and don't forget "There's chicken at home!"
Mark is preceded in death by his father Donald Strobush, father-in-law Lawrence Bethke, and mother-in-law Dorothea Bethke, and numerous aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his wife Sandy, loyal companion Dale (dog), children Collin (Stacy) Strobush, Kirsten (Adam) Weeks, their daughter Imogene, Laiken Strobush, and Sarin (Samantha) Strobush, their children Kai and Grey, mother Shirley Strobush, siblings Greg (Michelle) Strobush, Jim (JoAnn) Strobush, Julie Stoddard, and Nancy (Barry) Langer.
Nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews Dustin (Kristen) Strobush and children Maizey and Myles, Hanna (Greg) Bakken and children Julia and Emma, Heidi (Steve) Nelson and children Maggie, Ben, and Alex, Katie Strobush, Lucas (Amy) Strobush and daughter Fiona, Chad Stoddard and children Ellen and Nova, Jessica (Brent) Zobel and children Zach, Jaxson, Kennedy, and Chance Rands, Lindsey Bundgaard, Daniel (Sheila) Duch and children Presley and Porter, Jon (Abbey) Duch and children Cooper, Brady, and Taylor, and Michael Duch and children Lizzie and Maggie.
The visitation will be at Stokes Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S Hillcrest Pkwy in Altoona, on Thursday November 21st from 4-8 pm. The funeral service will be held at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 1915 Hodgeboom Ave. in Eau Claire, on Friday November 22nd at 11:00 am with a visitation beginning at 10:00 am.
