Mark Morgan

December 18, 1963 — December 6, 2022

Mark Allen Morgan, 58, beloved husband and father passed away on Tuesday, December 6 at his home in Eau Claire, WI.  Mark fought a long and difficult battle with Huntington’s Chorea, a hereditary illness that took a physical toll on his body and caused an overwhelming mental strain on his gentle soul. On the afternoon of December 6, Mark decided he was ready to rest in peace.

Mark was born in Pensacola, Florida on December 18, 1963, the son of Mary and Reynard Morgan. Mark graduated from Piedmont Academy in 1983 and attended the University of Georgia. Mark had aspirations of becoming a pilot and in 1984 he enlisted in the United States Air Force, spending the next six years as a Command-and-Control Technician and living in Germany for a time. Mark received several awards of recognition while in the service and fulfilled a dream of flying (co-pilot) in an Air Force fighter jet.

Mark met and married Maureen Kelly in 1985 and had two children, Mackensie M. Morgan and Michael C. Morgan. On September 23, 2000, Mark married his soul mate, Sarah G. Peters and welcomed a third child, Delani L. Morgan. Mark also was the proud grandfather of Vannah M. Jones, daughter of Mackensie.

Mark began his career at Valley Communication Center in Kent, WA in 1990 and retired from his position as Assistant Director and an honored member of his 911 family.  Mark was very passionate and dedicated to his work and to his team. Mark loved the law enforcement community and was an active participant in APCO and CELEA.

Mark dearly loved his wife and children and spent the best years of his life making memories and going on adventures. Mark enjoyed camping, fishing, hiking, traveling, scuba diving, boating, music, sports, family, and friends. Mark was a talented athlete in his younger days and enjoyed watching his children play sports, through the years as well. Mark was happiest on the water. On a boat or at the beach was where Mark found his heaven on earth.  Mark was a Parrot Head and was quite sure he was a pirate in a past life, accounting for his love of the ocean.

Mark is described by friends as a mentor, one of the most honest, sweet, kind, loving people one could meet, dedicated, a true friend, and “one of the great ones”.  Mark was always ready to help with a smile.  His smile and positive attitude will never be forgotten.

Mark was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather Mary and Doyle Shepard and brother Renyard (Mickey) Morgan. He is survived by his wife, Sarah, daughters Mackensie and Delani, son Michael, Son in Law Erik, granddaughter Vannah, sister Margaret Morgan, nieces Mysti Morgan Hemingway, Amanda Day, Nikki Chattom, and many relatives.

To honor Mark’s wishes, he will be cremated and, over time, reunited with his favorite beaches and dive sites. In lieu of flowers, Mark would appreciate a donation to the Huntington’s Society of America.

Mark, you are deeply missed and forever cherished in our hearts. Your spirit will continue to shine bright through the memories that you have shared with your family and your community. We hope that you found comfort in our love, and we are forever grateful for the love and kindness you showed us.

May you Rest In Peace.
