Rev. Mark Steven Krause, 60, departed this earth to enjoy life everlasting with his Lord and Savior on September 22, 2017.
Mark was born Saturday, May 18, 1957 to Harmon Carl Krause and Elizabeth Jean (Schmidt) Krause. Mark graduated from Northwestern Preparatory School in Watertown, Wisconsin in May of 1975. From there, Mark went to Northwestern College in Watertown, Wisconsin where he graduated in May of 1979. He continued to Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary where he graduated with a Master of Divinity in 1984.
In 1985, Mark received his first divine call to Zion Lutheran Church, Colome, South Dakota. Mark served the Colome, rural Colome, and Knapp congregations faithfully for 3 years. Following the death of his father, Mark decided to leave the ministry and return to his family in Wisconsin. Upon his return, Mark became employed with Cray Research in Chippewa Falls, WI. Mark met the mother of his children, Delores Decorah while employed at Cray Research. Mark worked faithfully for Cray Research for over 12 years. Following employment at Cray Research, Mark earned a degree in Business Administration at Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire, WI. Mark started his own business in 2006 for Lawn Care and Snow Removal. Mark was very successful in his business and supporting his family. Mark found employment at Phillips Medisize in Eau Claire, WI in February of 2014, where he worked faithfully and supported his family until his death.
From a very young age, Mark enjoyed researching and tinkering with electronics. Throughout his life, Mark also enjoyed gardening and taking care of many pets. Mark was known to his children to experiment in his kitchen with his many famous creations, including homemade popcorn and pizza. Mark and his entire family enjoyed visiting Pizza Del Re (PDR) in Eau Claire whenever possible to celebrate life’s most precious moments. Mark listened to the Milwaukee Brewers and Bob Uecker whenever possible. Mark was known to his family as a lover of long road trips and impromptu fishing trips. Mark was known to his entire family as an avid writer and poet; always, sharing his experiences and thoughts in beautifully written words.
Mark was a devoted Christian in every sense of the word. Mark always pursued a desire to share his faith and ensure that all his children received Christian education. Mark wanted his entire family to share a moment reading and reflecting with a daily devotion and prayer every morning and evening. Mark and his family attended St. Mark Lutheran Church for over 20 years. All his children were baptized, confirmed, and graduated from St. Mark Lutheran Church and School.
Outside of his spiritual life, Mark’s family was the most important thing to him. Mark was deeply devoted to his mother Betty Krause and his late cousin Sharon Radue and her family. Mark is survived by his best friend, mother of his children, and wife of 24 years, Delores “Lori” Krause. Mark leaves behind 5 sons and 2 daughters, Eliza (Chris), Harmon (Jessica), Benjamin, James, Kathryn, Jacob, and Noah. Mark was looking forward to his first grandchild, a girl, to be born in January. Mark is also survived by his beloved mother, Betty Krause, and siblings Tamar (James) Pardee, Michael (Carolyn) Krause, Paul (Wendy) Krause, Rev. Nathan (Sheryl) Krause, and Matthew Krause. Mark is also survived by his many dear uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Harmon Krause.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 3307 State St, Eau Claire, WI from 4pm-8pm. A second visitation will take place the following day Friday, September 29, 2017 from 10am-12pm at Zion Lutheran Church, 812 Western Ave, Columbus, WI. Mark’s Christian Celebration of Eternal Life will take place on Friday, September 29, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church, 812 Western Ave, Columbus, WI at 12pm. Interment will be in the Highland Memory Gardens at N9782 US-151, Beaver Dam, WI. In Lieu of Flowers the family asks that donations be given to Jacob and Noah’s Christian education at Luther Preparatory School, Watertown, WI
