Marion Dommer

Marion R. Dommer, 88, of Stoddard, WI, passed away on October 19, 2022 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, WI. She was born April 21, 1934 in Cross Plains, WI to Jacob and Laura (Nee Brunner) Zander.

She taught vocal music, piano, strings and served as an organist in two settings. Then in 1965, she graduated with her Bachelor of Science for music education at Alverno College in Milwaukee, WI.  In 1969 she graduated with her Master's Degree in Choral Conducting.  Marion ended up meeting her husband at a Choral Directors convention, and they married in July of 1974. She then taught piano at Immanuel Lutheran College in Eau Claire, WI for 25 years.  Her hobbies included: reading, writing, stained glass work and bridge.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years Robert V. Dommer; children; Rachel (Tim) Brekken of Bloomer, WI, Tanya (Jeff) Sorchilla of Chippewa Falls, WI, Rodrigo Dommer of Chicago, IL, and Roberto Dommer of Minneapolis, MN; stepchildren: Susan (Jim) Hannah of Michigan, Mary Dommer of Stevens Point, WI, and Julie (Augustine) Ruiz of Albuquerque, NM; 18 grandchildren; sisters: Lois (Bob) Severson of Sussex, WI, Kathy (Jim) Statz of Waunakee, WI, and Felissa Zander of Stone Lake, WI; many nieces and nephews; and several other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Jacob and Laura Zander; step son Richard Dommer; paternal and maternal grandparents; sisters Cecilia, Mildred, Rose, Anne and Doris Zander; niece Patricia Severson; and multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Memorial Service will be held Sunday, November 13, 2022 at 10:30 am at St. Mark's Ev. Lutheran Church in Onalaska, WI, with officiant Reverend Randy Fossum. The will be a luncheon at the church following the service.

Family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, palliative and hospice care teams of Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center for the wonderful care for Marion.
