Louise McKinley passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on Sept 27
th
2023. She is leaving behind a legacy filled with devotion to her family, unwavering faith in God, a snarky sense of humor, and an enduring passion for the Green Bay Packers.
Mom was born on Sept 9
th
, 1935, to Anna and Ben Bomkamp and grew up in Muscoda, Wisconsin. Raised on a dairy farm with six other siblings, where she learned hard work and what family really means. She married Lavern “Mac” McKinley, raised us three children, and helped raise our seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, spending most of her life in Eau Claire, WI. Playing cards, holiday gatherings, and camping with extended family were just a few of the highlights of her time here on earth.
Throughout her full life, Mom was unwavering in her faith in God. She was an active member of her local church, St James the Greater. Her devotion to her faith brought her peace and guided her throughout life's journey. She served as a volunteer in areas that brought her joy, like the old State Theater, Dove Healthcare, and senior center and anywhere else a helping hand was needed. She taught us to follow the Golden Rule and to remember “There’s always something positive in every situation”. She wasn't perfect, and never claimed to be. But she loved the best way she knew how and she was deeply loved in return.
She is now reunited with Dad who preceded her in death, along with her Grandson, Christopher McKinley. She is survived by her brother Gene Bomkamp, her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews (and their families), and a community of friends who were touched by her kindness and love. Though she is no longer with us, Mom's legacy lives on in the hearts of those she leaves behind, reminding us to savor every moment, cherish our loved ones, and never waver in our faith. May her soul find eternal peace with the Lord, and may her memory continue to brighten our lives like a ray of sunshine on a crisp autumn day.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, October 13, 2023 at St. James the Greater, 2502 11th St., Eau Claire with Fr. Tom Krieg officiating. Burial will take place at Lake View Cemetery, Eau Claire.
