Lillian Faith Larson, age 81 of Eau Claire, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. Lillian was born in Camrose, Alberta, Canada to Nels and Sophia (Rasmussen) Grue on July 23, 1942. The youngest of four girls, she was raised in a Christian Home and accepted Christ as her personal Savior as a child.
She played the piano by ear as child and started lessons at age six as well as voice some years later. Lillian graduated from Camrose Lutheran College (High School) and then Bible College at the Lutheran Brethren Schools in Fergus Falls, Mn, where she met her husband to be, Rod Larson.
They were married in Armena, Alberta on August 22, 1964. Born to them were four children: Rod Jr., Cole, Mathew (Melody) and Robyn (Jason) and grandchildren: Easton, Landon and Hadley Clancy.
Lillian and Rod enjoyed singing, biking, hiking, camping and skiing. Lil (along with Rod) was heavily involved in church music, teaching various SS classes and ladies Bible studies and president of the district Free Church women’s organization and taught Music and Drama at Faith Christian Academy for several years. She led church choirs for 40 years in various churches where they lived. Lil served as Director of Worship Ministries at Bethesda Lutheran Church for eight years and continued part time as choir director 2008 – 2018 when she retired.
Lil was preceded in death by her parents, Nels and Sophia Grue; baby son, Rod Jr.; baby grandson Landon Clancy; and sisters: Jean Miller, Grace Snipstead and Verneal Kallevig.
Her prayer was always that her family and loved ones come to know and love God which “is the whole duty of man” (Eccl 12:13). Our lifetime is but a vapor in light of eternity and it is the time we have to prepare for it.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 3, 2023 at Bethesda Lutheran Church, 123 W. Hamilton Ave., Eau Claire with Pastor Brian Quade officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until time of service. Burial will take place at Bethesda Lutheran Cemetery, Westby, WI.
