LaVonne Diane (Anderson) Nelson was born October 13, 1931 at home in Eleva, WI to Roy and Myrtle Anderson. She died November 27, 2023.
LaVonne attended the Eleva schools, graduating the spring of 1949. Active in school, she was a cheerleader, prom queen, played in the band, sang in a trio and the choir. She went to Eau Claire vocational school to learn shorthand, typing and bookkeeping, and was hired by Samuelson’s Department Store. She worked in their office as the accounts payable manager. In 1950, she married Loren J. Nelson and they raised six children while living in Eau Claire. After Loren’s death on November 6, 2015, she moved into a mother-in-law apartment in the youngest daughter’s new house south of Eau Claire. During a year when none of the six kids were in college, she went to school and got a real estate broker’s license. This was put to use assisting family transactions.
She is survived by her 6 children: Jayne (Tom) Fleming, Tom (Janet) Nelson, Greg (Judy) Nelson, Jan Nelson, Rob Nelson and Deann (Dave) Bergeson; sister-in-law Marilyn Anderson, and brother-in-law Don Nelson.
Her grandchildren were a source of joy: Christian Lee (Solmaz), Kari (Matt) Schneider, Annie (Joe) Thomas, Amanda (Jack) Christiansen, Cameron (Shirley) Nelson, and Demi, Megan and Cole Bergeson; Gregory (Lana) Weiner and Stacey (Russell) Blaney. She was very proud of all her great-grandchildren: Adrian Lee; Gregory, Sylvia, and Francis Schneider; Logan, Camryn, Jack, and Reese Thomas; Henry Christiansen; Brenya and Audra (Tarjanyi); Aaron and Norah Weiner; Clara Nelson; John Paul, James, Thomas, Elizabeth (Chris and Stephanie) Hurtubise; Tracy Jensen III; Celeste Walker; Carly and Marleigh Blaney.
LaVonne made a valiant effort to deal with incredible pain and distress from a number of issues at the end of her life and amazed us many times with her determination and independent spirit. We will love her and we will honor and miss her the rest of our lives ~ Her Family.
