Larry Kochendorfer

Larry Kochendorfer, age 90, of Bruce, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2023.
He was born in Plum City, WI to Stanley Sr. and Nellie (Hill) Kochendorfer. He was united in marriage to Ramona Howard in Spring Valley in April 1953. Larry was a 1952 graduate of Hastings High School, Hastings, MN. He attended the UW – River Falls to pursue a teaching degree, and also played football and summer baseball. After graduation in 1956, he taught and coached in Siren, WI for two years. In 1958 he began a 32 year career in Colfax, WI as a teacher, coach, and athletic director. He was fondly known to students, friends, and family as “Coach Cleats”, Grey Eagle”, or “Koke”. After his retirement in 1990 he enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, and wintering in Texas and Arizona. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters Marie Metcalfe and Betty Dutter; his brothers Wayne (Bud), Stanley Jr. (Pudge), Kenneth; and granddaughters Renee Kochendorfer and Sarah Kochendorfer.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Ramona; his daughter Gai (Bruce) Lorenzen, and sons Robert (Kathy), David (Janet), Larry (Kim), William (Janet); seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
The Kochendorfer family wishes to thank the staffs of St. Croix Hospice and Beehive Homes.
A Memorial Mass and family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
The family suggests memorials be made to St. Croix Hospice, 1280 W. Clairemont Avenue, Suite 4, Eau Claire, WI 54701; or a chosen charity.
Cremation Society of Wisconsin, Altoona is assisting the family.
