Larry Bradford

Larry Bradford, age 84, passed away at his home on Saturday, November 23rd, with his daughter, Keri Bradford, and his grandson, Joshua Hazelton, by his side.

After graduating from Memorial High School in 1959, he played the tuba for the Eau Claire City Band until he joined the Navy in 1960. He served on board the heavy cruiser U.S.S. Helena, CA75 as a Gunner's Mate. In 1964, he returned home to Eau Claire, WI with his late wife, LaVel Bradford, and attended Chippewa Valley Technical College. He was hired directly out of college by AT&T where he held his career for 35 years.

Larry was an incredibly caring man, and he worked with several different organizations that helped his community. As President of The Lake Hallie Optimist Club and President of AT&T Pioneers, he played Santa Claus for many children, helped build cabins for the disabled, and spent many weekends in Hayward for, "Fishing Has No Boundaries." Due to his acts of outstanding volunteerism, he won The Jefferson Award. Larry made a positive impact in many lives, and he will be missed by so many.

Larry is survived by his children: Danial Bradford, Keri Bradford, and David Bradford; his grandchildren: Skyler Bradford, Joshua Hazelton, Jacob Hazelton, and Jenna Breitzman; his great-grandson Blake Hazelto; his great-granddaughter Havynn Breitzman; his sister, Suzi (Beverley) Gladwell; niece, Tracy Gunderson; and several relatives and friends who loved him very much.

He is preceded in death by his late wife, LaVel Bradford, his parents, LaVerne (Bing) and Alyce Bradford, and his brother, Jim Bradford.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 29, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona. Burial with full military honors will be at a later date.
