Kerry Zurek

Kerry Richard Zurek, 62, passed away unexpectedly, at home in Durand, on June 15, 2023.

Kerry was born, and raised in Altoona by his parents, Richard and Carol Zurek and graduated from Altoona High School in 1978. After that he then attended UWEC, graduating with a BA in English in 1982. During that time, he discovered his love of radio and was an announcer on the campus radio station. After graduating he worked at I-94 and WISM radio stations here in Eau Claire and was also active in videotaping Altoona city hall town meetings.

In 1987 Kerry met the love of his life, Tammy, and they were married in 1992. They made Eau Claire their home until moving to their current home in Durand in 2014. During his working years Kerry had various jobs, besides radio, he did work for WEAU 13, worked at Randall Foods and was a customer service representative for the American Girl Doll Company, until finding his place at United Health as a Claims Processor from which he retired in 2019.

Kerry loved creative writing and used his gift by creating event flyers and posters for Cedarcreek Community Church events during the years he attended there.  He also loved music, both listening to and also playing the piano & keyboards. He enjoyed taking long country drives in the country with his wife or a road trip on the weekend somewhere and try new restaurants on their travels.  He loved going to Zoos and playing mini golf.

Kerry is survived by his wife Tammy Zurek (Boettcher), Mother Carol Zurek, and his sisters Connie Dilts, and Lisa Dorame. Kerry was preceded in death by his father Richard Zurek.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on July 28, 2023 with visitation from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm followed by the service at Cedar Creek Community Church 3520 Eastwind Drive, Eau Claire, WI 54701.

Kerry was a devoted husband, son, brother, and friend.  He was man of his word and faithful.  He loved making people laugh and he will be missed more than words can express.  However, although we grieve, we do not grieve as those who have no hope.  Those who have put their trust in Jesus Christ as their Savior look forward to spending eternity with Kerry and their Lord in heaven.
