Kathy Skamser

February 15, 1944 — April 30, 2024

Long-time Chippewa Falls and Eau Claire resident, Mrs. Kathy (Olson) Skamser, peacefully passed away at Our House Senior Living-Chippewa Falls Assisted Care on April 30, 2024, at the age of 80. Kathy was born on February 15, 1944, in Chippewa Falls to Elmer and Loreana (Nielsen) Olson.

She graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1962 and embarked on a career in teaching office skills, mastering the art of shorthand, a talent she carried with her throughout her life. It was during her time as a student teacher at Memorial High School in Eau Claire that Kathy was introduced to her beloved husband, Ronald, by her co-workers. They often quoted their friends opinion of their union, "If she didn’t have to cook anything and he didn’t have to fix anything, they would get along fine." And get along they did, for nearly 60 years. They exchanged vows on December 27, 1961.

Sharing a passion for travel, Kathy and Ronald explored four continents together, returning home not only with souvenirs but also with countless cherished memories. In retirement, they kept busy with friends, cups of coffee, and cherishing each other's company.  Kathy's infectious laughter and quick wit lit up every gathering she attended.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Loreana Olson, and her husband, Ronald Skamser.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 13, 2024 at the Norwegian Lutheran Cemetery, 1820 Omaha St., Eau Claire, with Pastor Jeff Carlson officiating.

Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel, Altoona is assisting the family.  Online condolences may be sent to www.stokesprockandmundt.com.
