Kathleen Sprester

Kathleen Judith (Batcher) Sprester, 84, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin died on Monday February 26 ^th at Mayo clinic health system in Eau Claire.

Kathy was born in Milwaukee Wisconsin to Anton Batcher and Kathleen (O’Connor) Batcher on February 12 ^Th , 1940. She was raised Catholic and attended Catholic school.

Kathy married Earl Sprester on June 30 ^th , 1956 in Milwaukee and to this union 8 children were born. They lived in Milwaukee, Hixton, Warrens, and wherever Earl’s drywall business took them. They settled in Amery until they divorced in 1978, when Kathy moved and settled in Eau Claire, where she received her license to sell insurance and worked at AAA for many years until she retired. She also worked at Sears selling maintenance agreements, Midwest siding and windows, and Bolton refuge house as an intake worker and a cook at the daycare.  Kathy was an amazing salesperson and loved working 2, sometimes 3 jobs at a time. She loved to cook and bake for her family, friends and neighbors, but her biggest passion was gardening. Kathy loved her flowers and vegetable gardens, she gardened until her body wouldn’t allow it anymore.

Kathy was a huge believer in helping people with whatever they needed, including a ride, a meal, or even money. If Kathy had it to give, she gave it. She blessed many people with her kindness and it made her feel good to help people. Kathy loved her kids, grandkids, great grandkids, and nieces and nephews.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Tony (Buzzy,) Charles (Snookie,)  Joe, her sister Carol, and infant son Earl Patrick.

She is survived by her children, Tim (Connie) Sprester of LaCrosse, Tom (LuAnn) Sprester of Amery, Betty Ash of Amery, Dan Sprester of Cumberland, Sean Sprester (Wendy Teela) of Eau Claire, Melissa Arnett of Dayton, MN, and Billie Sprester of Eau Claire. 15 grandchildren and many great grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Kathy’s family is very grateful for the compassionate care she received from the healthcare professionals at Mayo health systems in Eau Claire.

There will be a celebration of Kathy’s life this summer.
