Joyce Ranallo

Joy Stokely Ranallo, 84, died peacefully on November 3, 2022 at Woodstone Senior Living in Rice Lake. Joy was born July 1, 1938 in Spartanburg, SC to the late James and Ethel Stokely.

She graduated with a triple major from Lander University in Greenwood, SC, Self Memorial School of Medical Technology in Greenwood and Management School in Winston-Salem, NC. Joy worked in hospitals in both Carolinas before moving to Southern California. During her years in California she was employed as a Medical Technologist, Laboratory Supervisor, and Regulatory Affairs Officer in hospitals and American Red Cross. Upon moving to Cumberland, WI, Joy worked in Amery, as Director of the Laboratory, while Tony built their lake house.

Joy enjoyed living on the lake in Cumberland and decorated their home with her talented, creative touch. Her beloved Catholic faith grew during the time of their travels to Medjugorje and while they were members of St Anthony Catholic Church in Cumberland. Years later, they settled in Rice Lake and became members of St. Joseph Catholic Church. After suffering several strokes, Joy felt it was time to move to an assisted living facility and chose Woodstone Senior Living.

Joy is survived by her husband, Anthony “Tony” Ranallo of Rice Lake, her four step-children, Cynthia (Phil) Brown, Christopher (Kelli) Ranallo, Theresa Ranallo Lux, and Anita (Ron) Wilkinson, ten step-grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild, and her cousin, Sam (Jean) McCarson. Joy cherished her step-children and loved her family dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Mickey Schach.

Funeral services will be held Dec. 9, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rice Lake, with Father Ed Anderson officiating. Visitation/Prayer at 10:00 a.m, Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m., with a luncheon afterwards. The burial service will be at 2:30 p.m. meeting in Cumberland at St. Anthony Catholic Church Cemetery.
