Joyce Glenna
April 14, 1935 — July 3, 2024
Joyce Marie Glenna was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. She was born April 14, 1935 to Marie & William Berman in Eau Claire, WI. Her parents stayed in the area and she attended Eau Claire High School, graduating in 1954. She married Raymond Glenna in February of 1955.
Upon graduating from high school, Joyce worked as a waitress at the Eau Claire Bus Depot and also at the Paper Mill. In 1963 she was hired at Armour Meat Plant and worked there until 1983. Her most recent employment was at Cray Research where she worked until her retirement in 1997.
After retiring, Joyce was able to pursue her passion of being a caregiver which was demonstrated at her apartment complex. She helped several of her neighbors as they were aging with everyday tasks. She genuinely cared for them and wanted their lives to be safe and secure. She also was a personal caregiver to Maurine Hoeppner for several years. She enjoyed the personal relationship she developed with Maurine and her family.
Joyce loved quilting, cross stitch and attending her Bible Study Group which was the highlight of her life for decades. She loved spending time with her neighbors, friends and especially her family. She surrendered her life to Jesus later in life, and it was after that that her faith became the focal point of her life. She understood the love, grace and forgiveness of Jesus and enjoyed talking about heaven and meeting her Savior face to face. She realized that the most important thing in life is not how you begin but how you finish, making sure you know where you will spend eternity.
Joyce is survived by her brother Phillip (Hattie) Berman, her children David (Linda), Timothy (Jerilynn), and Rick (Pamela). She is also survived by her seven grandchildren: Jeremy (Gabrielle) Glenna, Jennifer (Nick) Kruse, Danielle (Chris) Rugnao, Andrew (Melissa) Glenna, Janelle (Seth) Stearns, Joy (Nathan) Strenke, and Jordan (Kali) Glenna. She also has 16 beautiful great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers William (Marge) Berman, Dickey Berman, Don (Mary) Berman, Herb (Sandy) Berman, Jim (Dorothy) Berman, and David Berman.
The family is grateful for the loving and tender care she received at Dove South Rehabilitation Center. She often expressed appreciation for the sincere efforts of the caregivers at Dove South. A heartfelt appreciation also to the Mayo Health & Hospice Team and Grace Willowbrook Assisted Living for the kindness they showed Joyce and her family during the last few weeks of her life.
Her homecoming will be celebrated at Stokes Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona on Monday, July 15, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Gaylon Woerner officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire.
