Jonathan Paul Schaller was born in Mobridge, South Dakota on September 26, 1928 to Egbert and Frieda Schaller. He left this world behind on August 23, 2022 and entered his home in heaven. We will miss him but are happy for his new lease on Life, all because Jesus:
• Knew him by name, “He calls his own by name and leads them out.” John 10:3,
• Redeemed him from sin and death “In whom [Jesus] we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins” Colossians 1:14,
• And prepared a place for him in God’s living-room “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also” John 14:3.
Following his baptism into the family of God, Jonathan grew in wisdom and stature in his parental/pastor’s household, and throughout his life served his Lord Jesus as Christian husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all whom he met.
For 24 years Jonathan served as a Lutheran clergyman, pastoring congregations in La Crosse WI, Onalaska/Stoddard WI, and Green Garden MI. For another 18 years he served as a case worker in Eau Claire County’s Human Services Department.
Although Jonathan did not parade his accomplishments as Bible theologian and Christian apologist, he shared the Christ-serving skills that God had given his father Egbert, grandfather John, and great-grandfather Gottlieb Schaller. He was a quiet man, a good listener, and always ready to help wherever the Lord opened a door of opportunity.
Jonathan has followed his parents, brother Allison (Sharon) Schaller of Mankato, MN, and sister Anne (Paul) Koch of Eau Claire into eternal life.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 67 years, Dorie, son Mark (Marcy) Schaller of Florida and their children Matthew and Robyn, daughter Julie (Tom) Holland of rural Eau Claire and their children Nathan, Andrew, Danielle, Kat, and Caleb, with their spouses and children.
We will miss him, remember him, and thank God for blessing us with Jonathan. Praise the Lord!
