In Loving Memory of Jon Benedict

Jon Benedict, a dedicated farmer, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and community leader passed away on May 27, 2023 after a valiant battle with cancer. Jon left his mark on the agricultural community and the lives of those fortunate enough to have known him. His unwavering commitment to his family and community, his passion for agriculture and his entrepreneurial spirit will forever be cherished and celebrated.

Born in November 1954, Jon grew up with an innate connection to all things agrarian, cultivating a deep love and understanding of farming from an early age. He possessed an extraordinary work ethic and an unyielding determination to succeed. Jon's dedication and his relentless hard work allowed him to manage the family farm while exploring other ventures in support of the community.

While Jon's achievements in farming and entrepreneurship were remarkable, his greatest joy came from being a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He treasured every moment spent with his children, instilling in them the values of hard work, perseverance, and compassion. Jon's unwavering support and guidance nurtured their dreams and aspirations, creating a bond that will forever endure.   Jon found a special happiness in spending time with his grandsons.  They gave him immeasurable joy.  He loved making the two boys smile while playing and reading with them.

Jon's warm and generous spirit extended far beyond his immediate family. He was a pillar of strength and a source of inspiration in his community. Always willing to lend a helping hand, Jon selflessly shared his expertise, offering guidance and support to fellow farmers and the business community. His wisdom, compassion, and willingness to uplift others will forever be remembered.

Even in the face of adversity, Jon faced his battle with cancer with immeasurable courage, grace, and resilience. His unwavering optimism and unyielding determination inspired all those who witnessed his journey. Jon's resolve served as a testament to the power of the human spirit, reminding us all of the importance of embracing life's challenges with unwavering resolve.

In honoring Jon's enduring legacy, let us remember him as a visionary entrepreneur, supportive community member, a loving father and grandfather, and a friend to all. May his spirit continue to inspire future generations. Although Jon may have physically left us, his presence will forever reside in the fields he cultivated, the memories he forged, and the lives he touched.

Jon is survived by his wife Marie; his sons, Eric, Paul (Alyssa) and Jason; his grandsons Oberon and August; his brothers, Gary (Rachel), Theron (Dorothy), Warren (Kathy), Leslie (Connie), Rob (Sharon), and Marvin (Terri) and his sisters Judy Doughty, Marcia (Ron) Lovette and Colleen Benedict.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 4 from 1-4pm at Blair Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Taylor Fire and Rescue, a cause that Jon supported for as long as he could.

Jon’s journey may have come to an end, but his legacy of determination, compassion, and entrepreneurial spirit will continue to guide and inspire us all. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory forever be a blessing to those whose lives he enriched.
