John “Jack” Sumner, age 85 of Eau Claire, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024 in Osseo. He was born in Boone, Iowa on December 15, 1938 to the late Kenneth and Flora Sumner.
Jack married Audre Pettit on November 28, 1959. Together they raised 5 children in Altoona, WI. Jack worked at a few jobs before landing his job at Leader Telegram. After 32 years with the them, he retired. After retirement he spent his days trying to perfect his golf fame with his sons and best friend Avery Smith. Weekends were for camping and fishing with family and other best friend Row Fenner.
Jack will be missed greatly by family and friends. His infectious smile and personality will be missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him.
Survived by his wife Audre Sumner; children: John, Robert (Rowena), Paul (Debbie), Kenneth (Stephanie); 8 grandkids; and 14 great grandkids. Jack is preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Flora, brothers Bob, Tom, Kenneth and daughter Teresa. He would always say when we were leaving the house...

A celebration of life will be held 12:00 p.m. (NOON) on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona with Fr. James Kurzynski officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
