John A Peterson, 91, of Eau Claire passed away on Monday, October 14, 2024. He was born on November 24, 1932 in Black River Falls, WI, to Joseph and Helen Peterson. He served in the US Air Force for 20 years and retired in 1971. He continued his career as an electrician for another 20 years at Uniroyal in Eau Claire before retiring to relax and spend time with his family and friends at both his home and at his lake house. His interests included crossword puzzles, wood working and reading. He was the ultimate handyman and did not meet a project he could not complete or a good book that he could put down until he finished. He was beloved by his family who enjoyed his jokes and outlook on life.
John was preceded in death by his parents, infant son (Herbert), infant daughter (Laura), sister (Betty) and brother (Melvin). He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marlene, daughter Linda (Terry) Anderson, son Joseph (Sandi), daughter Katharine Lindner (Gina), 7 grandchildren (John, Erik, Becky, Molly, Jake, Mike, Stephanie), 16 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, bother-in-law (Mark) and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2024 at Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona. A prayer service will be held at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Rest Haven Cemetery, Eau Claire with full military honors provided by American Legion Post 53.
