John Fedele

June 11, 1951 — October 19, 2023

John Peter (J.P.) Fedele passed away Thursday, October 19, 2023 at the age of 72.

He graduated from Madison Central High School in 1969.

He was a plumber by trade and a wood worker by avocation.  He worked most of his career with Roto-Rooter and Triggs Plumbing.

As a lifelong resident of Madison living in the family home he grew up in, JP was the neighborhood historian, able to share with new neighbors the rich history of the families who originally built their homes and raised their families in the neighborhood.

With his plumbing and overall handyman skills, he could help guide his neighbors with almost any household issue or project.  He would also help “flood” the ice of the neighborhood creek so the kids could ice skate there as he did while growing up.

He also volunteered baking pfeffernusse cookies for the St. James Catholic Church Fall Bazaar.

He was recently inducted into the Soap Box Derby Hall of Fame in Akron, OH in July. He was a former race director of the Madison Soap Box Derby in 1981 and served as director or assistant director until 2016. He was a member of the All-American Soap Box Derby’s A-team from 1986 through 2023, assisting in many technical activities. He also coordinated sending the Madison local champs and their cars to compete in Australia.

He was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Lavina and brother Joseph.

He is survived by his two sisters, Jennine Reuter (Rick) and Maria Fedele (Kevin Peuse) and nieces, Francesca Fedele, Lexi Fedele (Bridger Mann-Wood) with grand-niece Juniper, and nephew; Nick Fedele (Emily) with grand-niece Stella.
