Jeannette L. Zschernitz, 63, of Neillsville, WI, died peacefully in her sleep, Monday October 14, 2024 at Our House Senior Living, Eau Claire, WI.
Jeannette Louise Pyka was born on February 6, 1961 in Chicago, IL. The daughter of Carl Edward and Susan Marie (nee Cote) Pyka. She was united in marriage to James R. Zschernitz April 7, 1984. Jeannette was a stay at home mother. After the children were raised, Jeannette worked on furthering her education. She really loved children and helping people with just about anything. Jeannette babysat all of her nieces and nephews, and many other people’s children through all the years. She had a big heart. Jeannette also waitressed at many various cafes. She loved all the animals and made them pets, from birds to cows. Many strays were hauled home and cared for. Jeannette’s favorites were Hope the sheepdog and Stormy the husky. Jeannette was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville.
She is survived by her husband, James, of Neillsville; her daughter, Julia Zschernitz, of Monona, WI; her son, Jack Zschernitz, of Chippewa Falls, WI; her grandchildren, who she loved dearly, Landon Zschernitz and Gianna Zschernitz; her mother, Susan Zank and step-father Bill Zank; brothers, Joe Pyka, Steve Pyka, and Roy Pyka; sister, Michelle Zank (Dann Hoff); nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Pyka.
A memorial mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 25, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neilsville. Celebrant will be Father Greg Michaud. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, October 24 at the Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, WI. There will also be a visitation Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 at St. Mary’s.
