Jeanne Laurel Wilhelm, 71, of 427 Freedom Street, Fall Creek, died peacefully at home Monday, May 27, 2024. She was born June 24, 1952, daughter of Edward and Evelyn Volkman and raised on the family farm on Highway 12.
Jeanne graduated from Fall Creek High School in 1970 and attended the
Vo Tech in Eau Claire where she received her
degree in secretarial science. She received many awards for typing and shorthand. She enjoyed a successful career in banking for over 40 years, primarily at the State Bank of Fall Creek, where she was also active in the Fall Creek Foundation, and then was hired at RCU as Student Loan Officer
.
Jeanne married Mike Wilhelm on November 3, 1979. She was a member of St. James Trinity Church in Fall Creek where she served for many years as church organist.
She was an avid reader, a gifted writer, and had a quick wit and clever sense of humor. She loved to find bargains in thrift shops and thrift sales with her sister, Bev. She is known for her pleasant and gracious demeanor to everyone who was lucky enough to meet her or know her.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents and a brother in infancy.
She is survived by her husband, Mike, of 44 years; sons Matthew, and Aaron (Jody), two grandchildren, Rob and Claire, all of Fall Creek; one sister, Beverly Volkman, of Eau Claire; two brothers, Douglas (Charlotte) Volkman of Mesa, Arizona and David (Patricia) Volkman of Naperville, Illinois; brother-in-law, Steven (Bonnie) Wilhelm of Amery, and sister-in-law, Diane Wilhelm (Stan Fedyn) of Onalaska. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday,
June 3
, 2024 at St. James Trinity Church, 305 S. State St., Fall Creek. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday,
June 2,
Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Home, 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona and at the church one hour prior to services on Monday. Burial will take place at Trinity Cemetery, Fall Creek.
