Janice Bahr

April 26, 1942 — July 29, 2017

Janice E. Bahr, 75, Eau Claire, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Azura Memory Care in Eau Claire. Jan was born in Madison, Wisconsin on April 26, 1942, the daughter of Elmer and Lucille (Hoff) Anderson. She married William Bahr at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire on February 4, 1966. Bill preceded her in death on July 18, 2002. Jan went to vocational school in Minneapolis for office administration and worked as a medical transcriptionist. She worked for Dr. Obaid in Eau Claire for many years and most recently at Luther Mayo Hospital in Behavioral health. As an active member of Grace Lutheran Church for many years she served on various boards. One of her proudest achievements was being elected to the Grace Lutheran Foundation Board of Directors where she served as Secretary.

Survivors include her children, Vicki (Rick) Lantz of Village of Lake Hallie, Mark Bahr of Canton, OH, Lisa Bahr Harwell of Covington, GA, a brother Larry (Kim) Anderson and a sister Kathy (Kevin) Kraefft, all of Dallas TX; five grandchildren: Jessica Anderson of Eau Claire, Michael Lantz of Eau Claire, Zachary Bahr of Duluth, MN, Jacob Bahr of Peshtigo and William Harwell of Covington, GA. She is further survived by her great grandchildren, Amara Monson (Jessica) of Eau Claire, Ryan Bahr (Jacob) of LaCrosse and Lucy Bahr (Jacob) of Peshtigo, WI, plus other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother Dennis Anderson.

Our mom had a great sense of humor and always had a smile and a twinkle in her eye. Family meant the most to her, she loved having everyone home and a house full of her children and grandchildren. Laughter was always center stage, and she always made sure we were taken care of, happy, and tended to. We could talk to mom about anything and for hours. She spoiled us with her generous heart. Mom enjoyed music, dinners out, long drives, golf, cross-stitch, and extensive travels with our dad Bill. Although she fought a very long battle, for us, it is still too soon. We will miss her every day, and we are grateful she was ours. We’d like to thank the exceptional and caring staffs of Mayo Home and Hospice, Azura Memory Care, and Milestones Senior Living for the tireless care, love, and compassion for our mom over the years.
