Janet Hoff
December 31, 1969 — May 20, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we share that Janet Ann (Wik) Hoff passed away surrounded by loved ones at Mayo Hospital on May 20, 2024.
Janet was born on April 13, 1954 to Norma and Lloyd Wik in Eau Claire. She grew up in a large loving family with 7 siblings, where there were always people around to share in laughter, creating memories, and support during difficult times. Often growing up, her family spent quality time with many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In the early 1970s, Janet met the love of her life, Ole Hoff. They stayed in the area where they built a life together raising 4 children. She enjoyed traveling in the motorhome to the races, playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She touched the lives of many, working at the Elks Lodge in Eau Claire for many years, Greyhound bus, Applebee’s, Whiz Kidz, and Festival Foods.
Janet will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She touched the lives of many with her warm smile and caring nature. She never ceased to light up a room with her presence, and always found a way to put a smile on everyone's face. Her kind heart and generous spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
In the weeks leading up to her passing, Janet had her 70th birthday party put together by an esteemed party planning committee. It was a surprise party at the Elks Lodge, and many of her family and friends were gathered to celebrate her milestone birthday. It was here that the greatest speech Janet had ever heard, as she later said, was presented by her beloved grandson Matthew.
Janet’s legacy lives on through her children Dorinda Hoff (Scott Lowry), Laura Emerson (Juan Avellan), Travis (Teri) Hoff, and Kate Hoff (Bryce Friedrich); special niece Holly Kierstead; Her grandchildren, Tia (Maiya), Johnathan, Megan (Brian), Matthew, Joshua, Olivia, Lucas, Lincoln and Nova; Great grandchildren Evani, Rohan, and Rahul; Siblings Jane Endle, Norm (Linda) Wik, Al (Connie) Wik, Gary (Sue) Wik, Kathy (Steve) Schacht, Karen (Mark) Levasseur, and Tim Wik; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Olaf Hoff, her parents, Lloyd and Norma (Nelson) Wik, her in-laws, Sheriley and Lee Hoff, her brother-in-law, Lee Hoff Jr., infant sister Joyce, and infant child born sleeping.
On May 31st at 12:00 p.m. family and friends are welcome to gather at the Wesleyan Church in Eau Claire before a memorial service that will start at 1:00 p.m. All are invited to a celebration of life to follow at the Elks Lodge of Eau Claire where lunch will be served.
