Jan Szajko

April 12, 1952 — October 26, 2022

Jan I. Szajko, age 70 of Eau Claire, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 with her family by her side.  Jan was born in Rice Lake, WI on April 12, 1952 to Roscoe and Bernice Sherrill.

Jan Szajko grew up in Chetek WI.  She later married Ted Szajko.  Ted was in the US Army and they made their home in Kentucky, Colorado, Washington and Germany to name just a few.  They adopted a little boy in 1980.  In 1995 Ted and Jan created a comic book store and ran it until Ted’s passing in 1999.

Jan met her life partner Tom Frutiger and they lived in their dream home in New Auburn for 20 years.  Tom passed away on January 25, 2020.

She enjoyed reading, watching the Food Network the Packers and going to the casino.  After Jan was diagnosed with cancer, she was able to go back to Florida to enjoy the ocean and to eat some good food.

Survivors include her son Roscoe; grandchildren: Sophia and Aeslyn; sister Karen Hrouda; cousins Penny and Johnny; close friends Nancy, Chris and Linda; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Roscoe and Bernice; husband Ted; and life partner Tom Frutiger.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta.
