James “Jim” Richard Rasmussen, age 75 of Eau Claire passed away peacefully at home on January 27, 2024. He was born on March 29, 1948 to James and Iris (Hederer) Rasmussen in Madison, Wisconsin. Jim grew up in Marshfield, Wisconsin.
Jim met Connie (Mengert) while they were both traveling in Europe. They fell in love and they tied the knot on August 15, 1970.
Jim's passion for music laid the groundwork for his career, starting as a high school band director in Neillsville, Wisconsin. Jim and family moved to Eau Claire where he spent numerous years selling band instruments to schools across Western Wisconsin during his tenure with Schmitt Music Center.
Jim is survived by his wife Connie; son Michael and his wife Stacey; daughter Jenny Westphal and her husband Michael; brother Rick and his wife Arlene; grandsons Shawn, Jackson, Jacob, Carson, Kaden, Dylin and his wife Lexi; great-grandson Oakley; niece Hilary and her husband Eric; and great-nephew Ethan.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and niece Emily.
A celebration of life will be held June 8th (details to be shared with family and friends in May).
