James Harings
December 31, 1969 — October 14, 2024
James “Jim” A. Harings, of Chippewa Falls, WI, passed away surrounded by his loving family on October 14, 2024, in Tilden, Wisconsin. He was 80 years old.
Jim is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Ginger Tenney Harings and his children Michelle Harings of Chippewa Falls, WI and Jim and Rebekah Harings of Beaumont, TX. He was predeceased by his infant daughter, Holly.
Born in Tilden, Wisconsin, Jim was the son of the late Arnold and Florence Swoboda Harings.
As a child, Jim attended St. Peter Catholic Grade School in Tilden, right across the street from his childhood home. After graduating from McDonnell Central High School, he joined the United States Army and proudly served his country.
Early in his life, Jim worked in the manufacturing industry and enjoyed working for AMC Automotive and Uniroyal Tire Company. He later changed paths to custodial work, spending many years at The Eau Claire Academy where he made several friends with the residents and staff. Mr. Jim topped off his professional life at the Regis Day Care Center surrounded by the wonderful sounds of laughing children.
Jim was a Communicant of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and a proud member of the American Legion, Lions Club and the Knights of Columbus, all of Chippewa Falls.
A life-long Wisconsin sports lover, Jim could be found cheering for the Green Bay Packers and the Badgers football teams on any given weekend in the fall. And all summer long, he was either watching, listening to, or attending a Milwaukee Brewers game and seemed to know every stat of the summer. Not only was he a super fan, but Jim was also a ball player himself. On the baseball field, his talents and plays were legend (at least according to him) when he played centerfield for the Tilden Tigers.
Jim had many other hobbies and interests. He was known to spend hours throwing a line in Lake Wissota, playing a practical joke on his many friends and family, or ruining an opponent’s euchre hand with a trump card. (No doubt, his family has probably dealt him into their heavenly game by now.) But mostly, no matter the time or place, Jim loved spending time with his family and traveling with his sweet Ginger.
In addition to his wife and children, Jim is survived by his siblings Dennis and Linda Harings, Marilyn and Loren Elkin, Ann and Jeffrey Steinmetz, his in-laws Annette Harings, Patricia and James Moss, William and Sally Tenney, John and Debby Tenney, Sharon Covill, Robert and Tenney, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his daughter, Jim was predeceased by his siblings and in-laws Duane Harings, Robert and Kay Harings, Vernetta and John Schwartz, Joseph Harings, Michael Tenney, and Kathleen Cliff.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim’s honor to the St. Charles Borromeo Family Center Fund.
